Jed Jumping into Grayson Lake, Kentucky- 6/21/09

For Father's Day 2009 we had rented a pontoon boat on Grayson Lake, in eastern Ky for a day. There are many, many small inlets and capes for fishing, and many rock cliffs and ledges for jumping into the lake below.

This is one of those ledges, which is obviously a favorite local hangout, as evidenced by the firepit and (unfortunately) all the trash in the area. There is one pile of trash left behind on the ledge, clearly visible in the video. And, as could be expected, people have spray-painted their names on the rocks. For the most part, the lake does NOT look trashy, as is shown in this video. From the water, you cannot see what I have shown in this video, for the most part, although unfortunately it seems to be a human trait to trash ones' environment.

For $160 on a weekend day you can rent a pontoon boat for the day, and June 21, 2009 was the perfect day for a day on the lake: hot, sunny, but not too overly humid or windy.

There were several other people out on the rock ledge with me. One had decided to jump in as well, but forgot to take his cigarettes out of his pocket beforehand-- something he quickly realized AFTER he had jumped. I believe he made reference to his cigarettes in this video.

Locals. You gotta love 'em. Or at least, laugh at 'em.

The skinny guy with blonde hair who jumped from the ledge is my brother-in-law. He ordinarily NEVER does anything as daring, so I was pretty impressed that he took the plunge ike he did.
