  • His sound is too polished, though I do prefer his playing WAY better than his writing...

  • @bearsmanmics What don't you like about his writing?

  • Does it sound like hes telling a story without saying any words...or is it just me?

  • @fuzzybear718 Yes, he is telling a story using the language of Jazz. That's the goal of all musicians.

  • It doesn't get any hipper...

  • @bimmerfun I'm hip.

  • @brandon28081 um.... no it doesnt

  • Mintzer blows me away. If you listen to his lines, they're borderline perfect. It's looks and sounds like he's just eatin' breakfast. His time is friggin' perfect and his phrasing is slightly unorthodox. Not on this cut as much, but on other Yellowjackets albums... definitely original. It completely sets himself apart. I love his altissimo register! It's sick! Sounds like he's holding on by the skin of his teeth. I love that sound!! Wish my altissimo sounded like that...

  • Dica do meu amigo, Rogerio Dy Castro!!! Maravilhoso!!! :-)

  • 0 dislikes.. mm that is saying something!

  • @GLeone221 Bob being such a versatile musician and composer, he ALSO performed his tenor saxophone concerto with our Wind Ensemble. It was an incredible week with him! I'm looking to study with him at USC for grad school. :)

Sorry this is such a delayed response. :P

  • @GLeone221 I'm studying saxophone with Don Aliquo at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. We have a Jazz Artist Series here where we have 3 artists each year to play a concert with the top big band, play a concert with the faculty combo, and give a masterclass. Past artists have also included Phil Woods, Terrell Stafford, Greg Osby, Tom Harrell, Lee Konitz, Donald, Brown, Randy Brecker, Eric Alexander, Jim Snidero, Dick Oatts, Dave Liebman, , Eddie Daniels, Benny Golson, etc.

  • @tmg1968 Brecker believed George Garzone to be the king. Give him a listen
