Mercedes-Benz introduced their first compact luxury SUV as a 2010 model early last year as a rival to the BMW X3, Land Rover LR3, Infiniti EX35 and Audi Q5. The 5-passenger, 4 door, sport utility clearly follows the current Mercedes family styling. Join host Jessi Lang and correspondent Steve Hammes as they point out the highlights during this review and road test of the Mercedes-Benz GLK.

  • @373axle nope see you are comparing the wrong models. The Q5 has a 2.0T that gets higher MPG and the X3 has a new engine that gets better MPG as well. The Merc is above and beyond the worst. Its not too much to ask for decent MPG for that much money.

  • @gheffty93 GLKs competitors barely get any better real world MPG. C & D did a road test and they got: 20mpg combined for the GLK, 21mpg for the V6 Q5, and 22mpg combined for the X3 3.0si. Motorweek got 20mpg for the GLK as well. You can look those up on the web. Anyhow, if you're seeking fuel economy, affordability and great handling, why look into the premium SUV market to begin with? End of debate for me.

  • @373axle No, see it has about the same offroad ability as its German competitors (Audi and BMW) and the Evoque has better offroad capabilities. And all those cars get MUCH better MPG. and the Merc is not better than any of the competition yet so being much more expensive cannot be forgiven by the fact that "It's a Benz".

  • Well the GLK is a 4100+lb suv with 3.5L V6 & awd, and it's designed to go at least a little bit off road. So you can't expect camry fuel economy and lotus handling with that package. Gotta be realistic here. That's why I don't agree with many mainstream car medias; it's always a comparison for them, they never see any car for what it is. And it's a Benz, so of course it isn't going to be cheap!

  • @373axle or perhaps you just cannot accept the car's shortcomings. I mean there is also the fact that it is more expensive than the competition because there is no base engine and the MPG is terrible.

  • @gheffty93 No I know, I was just marveling at how butt hurt Mercedes fans get over the criticism he gave. I think it looks great, but MPG and handling are both atrocious.

  • @gheffty93 huh what a constructive response. Thanks for playing.

  • @Nathant888 I think you are reading too far into it. He says it looks great, but the handling is crap. That is the bottom line.

  • @CacoPhobicBitchh you sound stupid

  • lol at the people who cannot take tome criticism. The Audi Q5 is much superior, whether or not you like it, better handling is important. NOT ONLY THAT, but this car is way overpriced compared to the Audi. Even the BMW is cheaper! If they would just learn how to make it drive correctly, it would be great. Not a huge fan of he interior either, but its all a shame since it looks so good.
