1. Caller Kyle is a school psychologist who works with autistic kids and agrees with Savage on the over diagnosis of autism and how it only hurts the kids who truly have the condition.

2. Caller Susan says her child was labeled autistic by school officials and that she was pressured to sign off on the diagnosis.

3. Caller Tikvah is a therapist in New York City who works with children who says that kids are frequently labeled with autism even though they have other conditions because the agencies are provided with more funds for that diagnosis.

4. Caller Victoria has an autistic child and says it is too easy to get a child diagnosed as autistic. Savage says resources for autism must be reserved for children like hers.

I'm autistic, I was labeled "learning disabled" a long time ago, back in the days when there wasn't a lot of resources for the type of kid I was. That's why the schools are the way they are, they're overreacting to compensate for letting people like me fall through the cracks decades ago. In the 80's, when I could of benefited from treatment, connies like Savage would of simply called a person like me weak. But now that we know more about it all of a sudden he somehow cares. What a fake!

I'm an ABA therapist. I have had many clients. These clients ranged from high functioning to low functioning individuals. There is a good range in age (due to privacy issues, I can't go into more detail). Savage is dead wrong. What many people don't realize is that there is a high co morbidity rate of autism and other disorders. Thus, it's not necessarily being over diagnosed if other disorders are present. As for big money in autism, agencies aren't exactly rolling in tons of cash.

I'm dealing w/ this right now w/ my son's school. He is 6 yrs old in kindergarten & they're trying to diagnose him w/ autism but can't yet so they're trying to get him on a "disability" w/ his fine motor skills & stick him in special needs w/ an occupational therapist. If we don't apprrove the evaluation for this they can pull "due process" & take us to court. My son is a normal average 6 yr old, he has some difficulty holding his pencil but that's it & this set them off. One long fight

@mdowning77 Most autistic's come from UPPER MIDDLE CLASS-WEALTHY families you stupid red neck schmucks....You rarely see "poor families" with autistic children...It is much more common in upper middle class families...Why the hell would already financially well off families need to lie about their childs disorder to receive services that they could easily afford on their own? autism is a fucking scam in holyoke massachusetts, the spics use it as an excuse to get more benefits so they dont have to work. and the poor kids who dont even have it to begin with, grow into getting it, because the welfare benefits are so addictive.

I was in and out of school b/c of my tantrums, but on the other hand, if i wasn't autistic I probably wouldn't have been able to have my talents,such as drawing the map of the U.S. free-handed , so Michael Savage can go s*ck his damn wiener, like what his last name really is. He is just mad because he has to pay school taxes on his home, and b/c some of his school tax dollars go towards the autistic children's special education services. If he doesn't like it, leave the U.S.

I am autistic, I have had temper tantrums in the past in school, even in high school, and michael savage is basically saying that i am a fraud, and a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act, he is a damn nutcase, and he should keep his GD Comments to himself. I was diagnosed as an adult,at age 19 and I went my whole entire life without a diagnosis, and even treatment b/c the damn school didn't even care. I am also suffering from depression b/c of it, and being locked in a closet in Grade K.
