Oh I concur in full. Don't get me wrong- I thought Bill Murray was great as Garfield in the movies. But the true voice of our favourite orange tabby will always be Lorenzo Music.

Brings back fond memories from my childhood. Those were the days...

Garfield is watching you watch his show.

LOL @ 0:23-29 sure does sound like United Airlines theme.

@Mesterius1 I think the only thing Garfield ever said after the theme song in the seventh season was "After seven seasons, we've said pretty much everything we can say on this show." Then I think they stopped making lines.Correct me if I'm wrong about this. I thought it because on two of those Season 7 theme song videos on Youtube, one says the quote above, the other lacks a quote.

@kiltsonfire164 9 3/4 years for now on He died in August 4, of '01. Woah, He was close to 9/11.
-
@kiltsonfire164 Okay, boring that he died 10 years ago. :(
-
@ediann What is he alived?
-
These credits were the best. But the theme tune got on my nerves. They should of had a more original theme like the new Garfield show.

@ediann No it's not true! HE IS DEAD AND DEAD IS DEAD. He died 10 years ago.
Yeah, I think the DVD sets restore pretty much everything. EXCEPT the intro for the seventh and last season, a rap song which nobody associated with the show liked (and I'm pretty sure that went for most of the public, too - it's pretty horrible;) In the DVD sets, the intro is therefore changed back to the second one, which is much better. I'm wondering, though.. Remember how Garfield had a different line at the end of the intro in every ep? Did the changed DVD intros include his season 7 lines?

Right, and correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understood, that "rap like" song was only used on the CBS airings, and was NOT used internationally since the creators weren't very fond of it (was it a CBS decision?).
The DVD sets were made using the international episodes, so *technically*, the intros weren't changed.
I still have yet to go through the DVDs of the last seasons, so I don't know what intro lines were used.

The reason why this version got replaced was because this show like many other long-running '80s (and '90s in the case of Garfield) cartoons such as "The Smurfs," "The Snorks," "Alvin and the Chipmunks," and fellow '80s long-running CBS Cartoon "Muppet Babies" among cartoons that debuted at the time all had most of their original opening and/or closing credits replaced for syndication reruns, which meant inconsistent opening and/or closing credits.

Yup, and in the case of Garfield, the wrong ending credits are often used. This is rather unfortunate, because the show had many "guest" voice actors throughout its run, and because of how things are swtiched around in syndication, the "guest" actors often don't appear in the credits!
