In this clip Sly makes it clear he is communicating through the medium of dub and does not want to go down the 10cc route. Reggie has roots in pop music and quite likes dreadlock holiday, hence the dub/pop tension that form the basis of the south london duo.
two things here: dreadlock holiday is brilliant crap --in terms of reggae. agreed.
And... when the interviewer, presumably sips his tea/coffee so close to the mic, it has a haunting backwards-voice sound, like a ghost is being sucked into the room from another dimension.
