iPod Touch wont play sound on 4.1/4.2.1?

Well I bought this iPod at school purely for the fact that I had a few bucks and it was extra cheap, once I got home I connected it to iTunes, put it DFU mode, Then Recovery Mode. It went through everything and restored while adding the 4.1 firmware. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. Instead of locking after a few minutes it turns off and refuses to turn back on normally, THERE IS NO FRIGGIN SOUND!!, AND its glitchy as hell. I updated it to 4.2.1 and same thing. Anyone know what to do here? I really wanna fix it, oh yeah BTW Thanks for reading all this I know it was quite a lot but hey, gotta explain somehow other than then the video. Hold power and home to you see apple logo then keep holding till you see again then release should work it's a hard reset
