Signor Hyme: Prelude (page 4/1) from 'Select PRELUDES and VOLLENTARYS for the FLUTE ... by all the eminent masters in Europe', 1708 (cover on the screen).
Mr Hyme could be the italian Nicola Francesco Haym (1678-1729); cellist, composer and librettist. Violone player in the private orchestra of Cardinal Ottoboni in Rome under Corelli (1694-1700); then went to London as composer and cellist to the 2nd Duke of Bedford (1701-11); later as a bass player for the Duke of Chandos. In 1722 he became Italian secretary and official librettist of the Royal Academy of Music. Works include 2 oratorios, a secular cantata, instrumental pieces. His major fame lies in his adaptations of several of Handel's operas.
