Much like you can stop living the Jewish lifestyle and still be a Jew, you can stop living the gay lifestyle, but you'll still be GAY. There is absolutely NO such thing as being cured of homosexuality, and anyone who claims to have done so was either not gay or in serious denial. Religion cannot cure homosexuality, and any that does is severely flawed.

you can become a jew religiously but it is also a birthright. you are BORN JEW even if you leave the religion you are still culturally Jewish. almost half the Jewish community is secular. that's why its called the Jew and the Gentile. Gentile means anybody whose not born a Jew.
also, there are many situations where gays have left that lifestyle through divine intervention and reparative therapy.

there are many situations where gays have abandoned the lifestyle and found a straight one through divine conviction and reparable therapy. so unlike women, blacks, and the handicap who cannot completely change their skin or physical attribute, gays have freewill and can change their lifestyle. remember the topic is whether or not being gay is the same as other minorities.
as the saying goes "don't equate my skin with your sin"

Hold on a second...
Alright, so, the argument here is that it's a choice to be gay, but it's NOT a choice to be Jewish? How does that make any sense at all? You're born into the Jewish faith and ethnicity, but you make the choice to continue that faith if it suits you. Being gay is something you can't choose. So somehow, being gay is more a choice then being Jewish? Are you high? Seriously, get a grip here. You can't just say that it's not alright to live the gay lifestyle if that's who they are

your analogy to homosexuality and race is misguided. being gay may or may not be a choice but living the gay lifestyle is a choice and that's why we are here. the government doesn't ask you whether you are gay or straight. sexual orientation has nothing to do with the issue.you can't compare an immutable characteristic (race gender etc) to somebody's behavior. A lifestyle is not a minority. Jews, blacks, and women were discriminated against for who they were not for who they were having sex with
Being gay is not a lifestyle "choice." The brains of homosexuals are wired completely differently. They have as much control over this as I have over my ovaries. By lifestyle "choice" I can only assume you object to stereotypically gay behavior. That is your right, I do not argue against that. I do argue against the idea that someone "chooses," to be gay or that it is "misguided" to wish to have the freedom to live as an equal citizen. I am afraid you are wrong, these issues are exactly the same

in no way do we in society accept behaviors as one in the same with the individual's desire to live out that way. According to your logic, we should and are suppose to accept pedophilia, polygamy (bisexuals), adulterers, alcoholics, and kleptomaniacs. there is no evidence of a gay gene and there are many situations where gays have abandoned the lifestyle and found a straight one through divine conviction and reparable therapy. so unlike women, blacks, and the handicap, its debatable. Wow, you truly are as dense as a brick. How on earth is pedophilia equitable with homosexuality? Or polygamy with bisexuality? You obviously have no understanding of anthropology or you would know that A. they are in absolutely no way similar and B. polygamy is the dominant form of marriage throughout the world, not monogamy. Monogamy is the minority. Moreover, there IS evidence of homosexuality as a product of genetics and NONE for therapy or "religion curing" this. Nor is it a "choice."
