This was the first Accordion Festival and residents took every possible opportunity to say that they were glad to have the accordionists on hand. They showed it in every way and even turned out for a parade through town.
Time and again I heard accordion families say that they had never heard of a town turning out this way. Every possible accommodation was made. The enthusiasm was obvious and it was real joy.
The parade was especially impressive as the Wallace High Drill Team turned out in force. Watch for more on that.
Premier guests at the Festival were Rick & and Eileen Webber, husband and wife. They played for free and that remarkable skill you see here is the result of many thousands of hours in study and practice.
You have seen a few accordions before but Rick's marvelous instrument is a "hammered dulcimer." Folks claim that the vast majority of hammered dulcimers are hand made from kits.
That suggests that you would do well to start your musical experience from scratch, too.
Watch the Webbers and others on Missoula's MCAT TV if you live in Missoula.
Thanks an absolute gazillion, Webbers. Please come back soon!
Way to go guys! SMILE! Rod
