A luminous responsive installation using an array of light-emitting columns, Volume is a responsive installation that invites the visitor to create a new performance and to consider one's relationship with fellow performers. The visitor walks around inside the grid, and the movements create patterns of light and sound that interact with those created by the people around the visitor.
The project was conceived by United Visual Artists with a musical collaboration with production company onepointsix (comprising Neil Davidge and Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack).
Volume won the D&AD Yellow Pencil in 2007 for Outstanding Achievement in the Digital Installation category and was included in the Designs Of The Year show at The Design Museum, London.
