http://www.WestwoodASL.com - This is a "dialogue" between two people. One labeling himself as Deaf, the other hearing.
[TRANSLATION:]
A: Hi! How are you?
B: Good. How are you?
A: I'm cool. I'm Rob. I'm Deaf.
B: Hi! I'm Jack. I'm hearing.

  • asl is more universal amd myabe if u had words in your videos to show ppl what ur saying would be helpfull.

  • ASL is "localized." It is not a universal sign language. It is frequently used by Deaf people in America, parts of Canada, and areas in Africa. There are MANY different signed languages all over the world. This particular video was created as a review for my ASL students, not for "outsiders" looking to learn ASL. But, if you'll look closely, the translation has been included (and has been there since the beginning) in the "info" section.

  • I live in Ireland and I am interested in learning sign language online? are there videos on youtube with european sign language, or should I just learn asl?

  • @Largestina There are a few other signed languages on YouTube although ASL is the one getting the most attention. ASL is different than the signed language used by the Deaf in Ireland so it depends on why you want to learn to sign. If you want to be able to communicate with local Deaf people ASL won't be much help, but if you just want to learn to sign for personal enjoyment, ASL is a great language.

  • i want to learn sign language. i know my abc now but i want to learn words as well. i like your videos but they seem to be fast and there is no audio or subtitles for us to see or hear what your teaching.

  • This video was created for my high school students to review signs I already taught in class. It's not a good video for learning ASL. If you want to learn ASL, I recommend checking out my website.

  • Your videos are so helpful. I really like that I have the chance to read what you are going to sign before I watch the videos.

  • Like the idea but htis is far too fast for a beginner to pick up: also some words over the video itself instead of under the screen would be better.

  • @amberwiseman87 yes its normal. I always see signers do that.

  • @aashlynn2006 ASL is not universal. Every county has their own, however Canada, and afew places in Africa use ASL. If you live in English it's BSL, if you live in france it's LSF, if you live in Quebec, its LSQ, if you live in Australia you sign Auslan. then there is KSL, JSL, DSL, GSL, LSN, LSM, LSE, SEE, PSE.... That is just to name afew. So depending on where you live you would learn that sign language.

  • I teach the sign language worship group at my church. We have been invited to perform at a church that has a deaf ministry and we want to be sure we are doing everything correctly. I am self taught and I have never spoken to anyone who is truely fluent. Do you have any idea who I could contact to come and speak to us or any material we could use? We are in West TN.

  • Is it common to introduce yourself by name then say me deaf/me hearing? And why do you repeat "me." As in, Me Rob, Me Deaf Me. Is that normal also to repeat the me a third time?

  • I'm so proud of myself for understanding that, but I have you to thank. So, thank you! :D You make it so easy to understand!

  • @lg131796 try here this is where i started and its a real good place to learn sign very easy and very understandable
