Stella Vine talks to Natasha Kaplinsky and Dermot Murnaghan about her controversial Princess Diana painting on BBC breakfast TV, 2nd March 2004. A rare clip from the beginning of her career.
That painting is tat, yes, but she seems to drift from tat to pure genius.....sometimes in the same piece. Some of her paintings are very beautiful....she can actually do all the realistic looking stuff - often she'll paint a child like image of a human and then put a dog in the corner that looks completely real, with lots of character. The typical look of her work like this stuff I don't like.....but she has done some wonderful pieces of work.
Happy for stella but this is pure tat! So much of the brit art scene is this one-dimensional nonsense; still comedy value is huge. Saatchi is laughing all the way to the bank,
@parannoyance Saatchi no longer goes to the bank, HE IS the bank
