hi, i just have a couple questions. 1. how long does this process take once it starts? 2. what's the purpose? 3. how long does it take for the spider to recovery, if t all, becuase it looks like it would be very vulnerable after that...thanks!

@madturtlefan: My best guess is because it's easier to push the molt up and off than do the reverse.
