Dashboard Confessional is an American rock band from Boca Raton, Florida, led by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba. The band started out with Carrabba solely playing intimately personal acoustic songs, and eventually became a full band ensemble.

@DeeRizzlee It is emo, but not the bad kind. It's Post-Emo, a genre that was the end of popularity for "good emo", then Jimmy Eat World sold out and MTV got the idea to offer other Post-Emo bands contracts and thus, Nu-emo aka "emo" was born. I miss bands like Fugazi, Gray Matter, Rites of Spring, The Get up Kids...

Why do they have to be in any category? Why must people go to such lengths to categorize bands and music? You like it right, so shouldn't that be enough? Unless you work at a record store and you have to categorize then I guess, but Best Buy only has like 4 sections...rock, rap, soundtracks and dance. Guess what? Dashboard is in rock/pop just like slayer is so there.

Dashboard should be considered an acoustic band, even though only some songs are acoustic.
