"Well of course he did" Nick laughed.
"Nicholasss!" She hummed, her voice carrying out his name to its full potential.
"Miley, you're gorgeous, guys are attracted to you, did you expect me to be mad?"
"Well no, I just wanted to tell you..."
"Well thanks beautiful, but I don't care. It's actually kinda hot...you know...all of these guys think they have a chance and they don't...so hot, Miles"
"Mmm" Miley whispered in agreement. "I can't wait to see you"
"I know...three more days"
Miley smirked and held in her laughter. "It's too long...oh my god, what are we going to do when you go on tour?"
Nick shook his head, crossing his loose arm over his chest. "Don't even remind me"
"Sorry"
"When are you coming on Tuesday?"
Miley looked to Brandi who was sleeping next to her on their private jet headed north. "Early-early morning...when do you guys eat breakfast?"
"Early." Nick mocked. "Around eight, usually"
"Perfect."
"What time do you want me to pick you up?"
Miley laughed nervously. "Babe, you can't come get me" She said plainly.
"Why not?"
"Demi and I already figured it out...you can't just come and get me." Miley lied. It wasn't that she didn't want Nick to come get her because in fact it was probably all she wanted. They did have some of their best moments in airports, after all. "Hey, babe, I have to go-" Miley whispered something to someone, her voice catching on the speaker of Nick's iPhone. "I love you" It returned, stronger now. Just as she spoke, her voice brightened and her teeth showed as she cheekily smiled for the boy on the other line.
Nick forgot that she was getting off the phone and shared a moment of smiles and slow breathing with his beautiful. "I love you too"
"Bye Nicholas" Nick just smiled, hoping the moment would linger even after he shut his phone. All of the weight he had felt from earlier was lifted, allowing him to walk to the edge of the dock and then back up the hill toward the dining hall, a smile plastered on his face with each passing footprint in the dirt below.
People would always speculate, and they had just now learned to accept it. Three years later, they had also accepted that they were three years late and had already let so many stale moments go, moments that would never be fully recovered. But there were always the fragments, like specks of shattered glass, that once pieced together would show the bigger picture. Nick and Miley had learned to deal with the refracted light and the distorted images. It was all no different than looking out the window or seeing your reflection in a still pool of water. You were there but as ripples and tidal waves appeared, you were gone. They needed to remind themselves that there was always glue for the broken mirror and that eventually the tidal waves would calm and present a more clear image. More importantly, the fact that made Nick and Miley truly smile, was that they didn't need to see what they had at all. They felt it everyday.

Yes, I will ALWAYS explain, but if you ever feel like I don't, just ask. She is filming a movie in TN. The whole idea of this chapter is that she's planning something. Maybe try reading a little bit more carefully and then read the next chapter to see what's going on. Even when people are confused, I never like to come out and directly address things. Because it's like that for a reason. It's okay to be confused, Nick is too :p
