This video shows how glial cells are controlling the signal strength of neurons by the release of glutamate but only under the presence of TNF alpha. The crucial role of TNF alpha is shown with several segments, visualizing its mechanisms.

This is the Cell Press Nueron video abstract of the paper "TNFalpha controls glutamatergic gliotransmission in the hippocampal dentate gyrus" by Dr. Mirko Santello, Dr Paola Bezzi and Prof. Andrea Volterra of the Department of Cell Biology and Morphology (DBCM) at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

  • Great video, I now know why using the herbal supplement Cat's Claw (TNFa inhibitor) had a negative effect on my memory. I also believe it decreases dopamine levels.
