obviously, Chris Thile is a virtuoso at the mandolin, but what i wasn't expecting was that the rest of his band would be absolutely phenomenal (as you can see from these solos). really, i mean, just tremendous. Bryan Sutton is the guitar player. incredible.

(this was at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville, TN) (sorry about the camera rotation there. i forgot you can't turn your monitor 90°)

  • surprised that a virtuoso has phenomenal players in his band?...hmmm, who did you think he would pick to play with him? :)

hah but great video, appreciate the upload

  • @StimpoTube touche. i suppose i just didnt expect them to shine as brightly as him at any given time :)

  • well it may be the guys from Punch Bros, but they were not referring to themselves as such at the time. i was just noting that, at the time of this recording, Chris Thile was more "from Nickel Creek" than "from Punch Bros."

  • If you say Thile sucks you apparently do not know anything about music.

  • Also its so funny to hear such a clean solo from Chris when he looks so ruffled and bedraggled like that. The shirt makes me laugh. XD

  • His fingers are too fast for the camera

  • @habertree Absolutely. You are 100% correct. I was simply referencing Chris Thile with Nickel Creek when I posted this because at that time (2006), he was best known for his role in Nickel Creek. So... for the record, I am completely aware that this is not Nickel Creek :)

  • @joshman800000000 This group was called the "How to Grow a Band," with Bryan Sutton on guitar instead of Chris Eldridge; that's the only thing that makes this not the Punch Brothers. Nickel Creek had siblings Sara and Sean Watkins on fiddle and guitar, respectively. Both of them are absent here; so while this is not the Punch Brothers, it's definitely not Nickel Creek, either. Thanks for the video, though. Awesome picking!

  • punch brothers apart from the guitarist.nickel creek had a woman on the fiddle. only the best play with the best

  • @joshman800000000 This the Punch Brothers, dude....

  • @Mtsplash about?

  • @joshman800000000 You are sadly misinformed.
