Nice altering of his photo's... Biggots...

Hope you loose savagely as an example of why the mentally challenged shouldn't be allowed to make advertisements: always resulting to smear and digitally altered images...

Slimy. Manipulation of the photographs & footage to make Ashwin Madia appear "darker" in order to tap into the racial prejudices of voters. Slimy baby slimy.

Boy, am I glad I live in the UK where people who have Indian ethnicity are all over the place, in government and in real life.

I just can't understand the mind-set of an American who tries to equate 'Indian' [as from India] and 'black' which is patently what has been done here.

That having been said, Brits with Indian ethnicity are actually called 'black' here; but OTOH, 'black' isn't a dirty word here like it [apparently, perhaps only for the Republicans] it is in the US.

I'm an American voting for Obama, but I do have to take issue with your characterization. Your post comes across as a smug swipe at American race relations, intentionally or not. Understand that you do not come from a very diverse country (e.g. about 2% black), and the UK is legendary for racism. Yes, "black" is a big deal in the UK, and when your country becomes even less white then we will truly see how you feel.

"Meet the REAL Ashwin Madia." We see that "real" charge from the GOP a lot lately when they're talking about non-white candidates like "who is the REAL Barack Obama?" The more you classify non-whites as "them/other" the more you drive non-racists away from your cause.

Negative ads always "darken" the faces of their opponents, even when their opponents are blond and blue-eyed white folks. Perhaps the real problem is our natural tendency to see darker skin and think "sinister" or "scary."

But yes, there are deeper ramifications to the technique when your opponent is, in fact, a person of color. What's more outrageous (to me) about this ad is that once again, the GOP is accusing a Democrat of being in favor of higher taxes. That's a myth that needs to die.
