  • great vids! just joined that yahoo group from your first vid!

  • @loloj7 Thanks for the comment. The fasting groups at Yahoo have been less active lately. There is still some good stuff posted periodically.

  • so if you eat 700 calories on ur fasting day since ur eating only one meal on that day and u eat 1500 on ur normal eating day. 1500+700/2 = 1100 isnt that starvation ? or if ur body fat is already quite low wont u go toward a deadly 0% body fat ?

You eat whatever you nee to eat to reach your goals. It is not difficult (actually too easy) to maintain your weight with ADF. I am trying to lose about 1 pound a month at this point, almost at my goal.

Sir, I'm on Day 7 of my water fast. All the digging I've done tells me that fat-burning doesn't start in earnest until the glycogen reserves in the liver, kidneys and muscles have first been used up. This is supposed to take about three days. Sound about right to me. It was about three days before I got that telltale taste in my mouth.

So how could intermittent one-day fasts accomplish much?

  • I just started this today. I actually was planning on doing fast five. I had my first meal of the day at 5 o'clock, normal size meal I cant eat when im not hungry. By the time it got to 10pm I still wasnt hungry, so I guess I am doing ADF??

  • I am a beginner of ADF. I am sold to this idea because it also corresponds with MANY religions which promotes periodic fasting.

  • @yoyo2ma I find that on days when I'm fasting and considering overeating, snacking, etc... it helps to think of things like this. "Hey, I went 24 hours without food yesterday, why shouldn't I be able to go without food for six hours today?"

I would also say to cut out soda, or limit yourself to a can daily. You might find that you start disliking how sugary it is after awhile.

    Good luck.

  • I've been on this diet for a week and love the simplicity of it. My problem is doing the obvious bad thing: overeating when I can eat. Going to McDonald's, KFC, eating pizza drinking beer and regular soda and lots of other junk food. I'm trying to work on that but I do notice I get fuller quicker before I finish large proportions which is a sign to stop eating and not order dessert if I am full which is my weakness.
