"Sitting Alone At A Table For Two" is a beautifully sad but simple crossover love song with nearly as many chord changes as words. It has a provocatively lonely and haunting melody.
The original song was the result of Al adding lyrics to one of Dan's melodies over the kitchen table. It is a nightclub style, sultry song, that speaks of turning the clock back on a broken relationship.
The original lyrics and music were written in 1984 by Al Curving and Dan Laurie, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in 1985 as part of the album Slices of Life in Story N Song Vol.1, and revised in 2009 to this version.
