Try pouring the Hydrocal into the water instead of the other way around. Let it soak for a little bit before sirring and will will get fewer lumps; better yet, use your fngers to mix it and you will feel the lumps and work them out before pouring.

its is very hard to get the rocks out of the moldings that tip about spraying the soap to not destroy your rocks is great thanks!

i'v never made i diarama so... but i dont understand why not just use some real rocks?

You definitely can use real rocks in your diorama. You can break them up, paint them and do a lot with them. Although sometimes using a rock can be a challenge to get the scale right. Using cast plaster rocks can give you some interesting looks that are a bit more realistic to scale.

Ever try cooking spray? will that work or adversley affect the mold set up process?

That's a good idea. It probably would work good. I never tried it though.
