You must see this.. Coke Bottles are transforming Manila's rural areas. These plastic bottles are now being viewed as a green, cheap and sustainable way to light homes. In rural Manila where homes are often built so close to each other that they have no windows or natural light these bottles are a God send. With electricity unaffordable or unavailable for many families they often have to work, do chores, and eat in near darkness. Now there is light. Take a look at this. Absolutely incredible.




Coke bottles are the major component of an innovation called the "Solar Bottle Bulb." And these bottles are popping out of roofs and illuminating the lives of many Filipino's. You must see this...   • Most of you are missing the point. There is not the money to buy Solatubes, clear plastic panels or phosphorescent paint. Remember - they installed these things for less than $1 each. Including labor.

  • they add chlorine to kill any bacteria in the water and keep it from getting discolored and slimey.

  • @lildude8210 Roof sheets cost more than $1 installed - and they let in huge amounts of heat. Listen to the start of the video - talks about how hot it is.

    It ist because to minimize the upgrowth of algae.

    They not only use water. They add chlorine. But I dont know why.

    Who knows what is the advantage of chlorine-adding?
