  • Wow, I'm glad someone liked it ;) Yes, they do you the equivalent of pinyin in Thailand, but, according to some books I was using to study Thai, there is no official system of romanizing Thai words! So it's not very consistent.

    It's funny that they would bother distinguishing the "fifth tone" of Chinese in Taiwan, since it's just a neutral tone, and is best remembered by just neglecting to use any intonation. Thanks for the comment

  • "Pleco" saved my life when I lived in Taiwan! It's free to download too. Do they use b p m f in Bangkok as well as pinyin? When I lived in Taiwan I noticed that there are about 4 different kinds of romanisation! zhen1 de5 tou1teng2!! Tong yong on road maps , pin yin was a favourite in the classroom and on buses and food stalls they used something called "Giles" system... don't quite me on the last one though.. Hey awesome video, really interesting thanks ;)
