To celebrate the 9th year of the Quinpool Cruise and Show & Shine, the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association, in partnership with CrestHalifax.org, are providing a Green Zone in the Zephyr Rug and Home parking lot.

The Green Zone which will be featured during the Show & Shine, takes place Sunday July 19th from 8 am to 4 pm will showcase the best of the future for green automotive and transportation choices.

CrestHalifax.org and Halifax Harbour Bridges are the sponsors of the green zone and will both be on hand to discuss smart green transportation choices.

Halifax Harbour Bridges, who is working hard to meet the transportation, needs of the present while being mindful of the mobility and environmental needs of future generations will be exhibiting from 8 am to 4 pm and will have their mascot there from 11 am to 1 pm.

Ecology Action Centre - TRAX will be exhibiting from 10 am to 4 pm and will be promoting alternative means of transportation suitable for a low-carbon future. They will also be selling raffle tickets for a canoe.

Green P energy conservation products will be showcasing their power assisted electric bicycles. The Sorrento 2009 and the Commander SHO 2009

CarShareHfx will be from 8 am until 3 pm and will share how their car sharing works and will have one of their vehicles on hand.

General Motors OReagans will have a Hybrid Truck on display from 8 am to 4 pm.

Colonial Honda will be exhibiting from 8 am to 4 pm and will be showing their Honda Insight. Their key message will be safety for everyone and ecological driving practices, which the Insight helps develop.

ORegans Toyota Halifax will be there with a 2010 Toyota Prius. They will be there from 8am to 4pm , with of rotation of 3 Product Advisors. Along with the vehicle they will also have a limited number of brochures available to hand out.

The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia will be adopting ducks for the Halifax Duck Derby from 8 am to 3 pm. Flock to their booth to check out their grand prize, a 2009 fuel efficient Hyundai Elantra, and admire the duckorated ducks or come find out the race details and how you can adopt your lucky duck!

Metro Transit and Smart Car will be exhibiting from 9:30 am and until 4 pm.
They will have one of their Smart Cars and information on their new transit projects

HRM has several projects to reduce demand on our street network from single-occupant vehicles. They will have information on SmartTrip program, in particular their internal car share, and new transit projects.
