Actually, Roberta Flack wasn't even the first to sing this song. Lori Lieberman sang it first in 1971, Flack in 1973.

I just listened to Roberta's version it was good in a different way - Smoother and softer. I think Lauryn's version is ruined by the rapper, and I think you might like Lauryn's version if the rapper wasn't there. Roberta didn't have a rapper shouting over her in her version so it is easier to appreciate her voice when she sings it.

WhoLueYou I totally agree with you, see what I mean about when she sings it alone, soooooo soothing, it really does give me a buzz listening to Roberta she is one of my all time favorites.

Maybe the rappers ruin this for you. I know I would like this better without the rapper. Perhaps it would be better with just Lauryn and Roberto minus the annoying rapper.
