Hundreds of workers protest the barbaric beating and firing of 8 of their comrades by the Pakistani Rangers (a paramilitary force). Almost 2,000 workers employed at the J & M Clothing Company (http://www.joesfashion.com/clothing/clothing.html) had refused to eat the rotten meat being fed to them in their canteen. After the affair escalated, the Rangers were summoned by the factory management--after selected workers resisted orders to vacate the factory, they were beaten bloody (two to the point of being rendered unconscious). For the past four days, the factory has been largely shut down, demonstrating a commendable level of solidarity across ethnicity and gender. Workers are refusing to return until the managers involved have been removed.
