Made in the late 1960s at The Post Office Research Station in Dollis Hill, this short film predicts with spooky accuracy the future of communications.

If you look beyond the dated production, you'll catch sight of Fax, video phones, WiFi, and much more.

This is no surprise as in 1943 the world's first programmable electronic computer 'Colossus Mark 1' was built by Tommy Flowers and team. Flowers, an engineer at Dollis Hill unveiled his computer at Bletchley Park, his work was covered by the Official Secrets act until the 1970s.

In 1957 the Premium Bond computer ERNIE (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment) was built by Sidney Broadhurst's team.

The speaking clock was developed at Dollis Hill too!

  • An incredible but slight inaccurate insight into the communications future. Mobile phones weren't even thought of as possible, and the speed of technology growth was totally underestimated. Worth watching!
