www.bighoneydog.com / Honey the Great Dane at 9 weeks, playing with her kitty sister, Lemon, and practising some early training, eg. come when called, no mouthing & shake paws. (I was not a very good trainer then - I should have praised Honey when she stopped mouthing after I told her off "No!" - very important to always praise/reward dogs for doing the RIGHT thing - if you just shout at them for doing the wrong thing, they will never learn. Honey is my 1st dog so I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning! And probably still do...! :-) )

  • he seems pretty small for 9 months but totally cute!

  • I think you misread - Honey was 9 WEEKS not 9 months (and at 10kg, that's a pretty big puppy for 9 weeks!)

  • approximately when do danes start to become lazy? My 12wk old great dane has more energy than any other puppy I have ever had/met.

  • I asked my vet the same question when Honey was a pup & got told 18 months at earliest - I nearly fainted! Actually, if you wait for your dog to "mature" to calm him down, you will be waiting forever. Some dogs never grow up or even if they "mature", they will keep their bad puppy habits. The only way your pup will calm down is if you do training, teach self-control, stimulate his mind (not just physical exercise - dogs build stamina faster than you can exercise them!), go to classes, socialise

  • Freeze some butter, then rub a little on your hands. This teaches puppies that hands are for licking, not biting. Via Animal planet

  • Ur great dane pup is so cute. I had a great dane. He had pointy ears, a black coat, and a white chest. as he was aging, he got white everywhere. He lived up to the age of seven, then got bone cancer. He started getting Auto Immune disease and could barely breath. Luckily, he didn't suffer for too long. January 17th, 2012, we put him to sleep. To be with him again.:'(

  • That's one BIG female Great Dane Puppy!! Now I remember why I had to get myself another Great Dane puppy for ME!!As soon as she's had all her shots we're going to an all breed obedience class together!!!She already knows quite a few commands. But damn those teeth feel like razors!! I sure don't remember my other Danes biting like this...she's quick with it!
