This is a cute monologue from the film, "The Matchmaker" (1958). The adorable Anthony Perkins plays store worker Cornelius Hackl, who falls in love with the pretty young Irene Malloy (Shirley MacLaine). This scene was just too sweet not to post. Enjoy!

  • sweet! I just saw this movie and LOVED LOVED LOVED it.

I first saw Tony in a movie for a film class (hint-it was in the Sci-Fi/Horror selections), and when I saw him in this I was laughing my head off. He's so much better than what I remember of Michael Crawford in Hello Dolly (where, Cornelius was sooooo loud in mannerisms).

  • Haha! I loved this movie! And I think this clip is the cutest scene Anthony Perkins ever played. Thanks for uploading this!

  • What the heck? haha...

  • It is nice to see Perkins in a happy role. He played so many emotionally disturbed characters: Fear Strikes Out, Friendly Persuasion and of course Hitchcock's masterpiece.

  • Amazing......

  • He was adorable in this movie! Thank you for posting :) I remember later on when Hello Dolly was made with Barbra Streisand.
