Forbes shows his Christian bias in remarks to congress. In Fact, the term Judeo-Christian was not coined until after WWII - time when the nation of Israel was being established; the early signed documents Mr Forbes gives as evidence that the nation was founded as a Christian nation do not reflect the facts - the nation was in fact founded by a predominance of Chriatians who carefully and painstakingly avoided including religion into government including the religions they themselves followed.

I think there's a difference between a nation arising from a people deeply influenced by Judeo/Christian values and a Christian Nation. I think Obama was saying we are not a theocracy, which is true. In the context of world politics, it is important to let other countries know that our government is secular and not under the authority of any particular religious dogma. I think the criticism on this is unwarranted.

Although I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. We are a nation that is founded in our Christianity and have represented that view for nearly our entire existance. What the world should think about us is very simple that we are Americans who hold closely to the belief that we are all endowed by our creator, that we stand on our beliefs in God and America but that we respect the rights of others to believe differently.

I don't think we disagree except maybe on what exactly the term "Christian Nation" means. Would you grant me that we are not a theocracy?

I agree that we are not a theocracy because we do not force a particular religion or belief on Americans but we are guided individually by our beliefs which translates into our actions. The majority of Americans refer to themselves as Christians and are guided by that faith as was our founding fathers. That belief is the reason that America is inclusive of other faiths and beliefs. To say that we are merely a country of citizens in my view is to reject our history and the majority of Americans.
