I know gaijin tourists aren't supposed to ride the trains during rush hour, but I wanted the experience. It wasn't so bad - a little like being a sardine, but no worse than Union station after a Raptors game. :) Okay, maybe a little worse...

  • Haha Hello fellow Torontonian :)

  • @JasinAmos Your lucky you don't have to have a job already. Some kids are forced to get jobs as early as 16 (which is legal BTW)...

  • @hollisprophet no i am a foreigner in japan

  • Saturday won't be rush hour, this is just normal Saturday. Rush hour is only during the working week.

  • @yesiamanalien : not so much an unwritten rule for being a foreigner but there are unwritten rules with regards to what to do when people are trying to get off. If you are near the door, you get off with the flow , then jump back on with the new passengers.

You would be a bit of a turd if you tried to take your suitcase on board.

Most people here want to avoid it but good on the poster go jumping on n taking in the true experiences of Tokyo :)

  • I thought it was funny. I wouldn't want to be a sardine though so I'm glad I live in Austin and am under 18 so I don't have to get a job yet. Lmao

  • Perhaps it is annoing to see person filming the whole mayhem or taking place for a thrill of doing the ride on a crowded train when others are rushing to get home, to work, shopping etc. I guess. Still I am glad that you did it - At least we can see a first hand account :)))))

  • @yesiamanalien Ahh ok..well if its in the case of a tourist, then that makes sense.

  • @hollisprophet I'm assuming it's more an unwritten rule since most foreigners likely don't know how to do it and would likely slow it down as well as be uncomfortable.

  • Foreigners aren't supposed to ride the trains during rush hour?? Is that a japanese rule?
