Movies To Video Games Reviews
Review #12

---This is a Fan Requested Review---

Batman made by Sunsoft for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is fully reviewed and analyzed as compared to the actual movie itself.

Feel free to comment. More movies to video games reviews coming soon.. suggestions and feedback welcome and encouraged.

Correction: In the review I say Batman has 7 health bars in his health meter when he actually has 8. Mark that to my bad counting. Sorry about that. Doesn't take anything away from the review but I like it to be accurate so please note this correction.

In the means of saving space the score tallies used to get to the final score are listed here instead of in the review itself. They are on a 0-10 scale with 10 being the best score possible:

Story Accuracy to the Movie 6.5
(The cutscenes and locations are accurate. Every location seemed to fit well to where Batman wound up in his ventures through Gotham City. But the enemies and bosses were all out of place and seemed like they were from another game rather then a Batman game. A few moments could have been added to make things more accurate too..)

Music Soundtrack Accuracy to the Movie's 2.0
(As with most Sunsoft games, the music is in house and not related but still fun to listen to. But it still doesn't relate to the film in any way. The music is great but I can't give this score a high score as it is original and not related to the films score in anyway. The films main score is well known and probably should have been found somewhere to make the game more accurate but most won't care that its missing due to how great the Sunsoft music is throughout this game.)

Game Difficulty 5.75
(The game is definitely challenging but far from impossible. Once you figure out how to get through certain areas the next time through it won't be as hard. And with enemies giving you hearts back sometimes to fill your energy it makes things even easier. But with only 3 lives and tough enemies this game will take you awhile to get through even with only 5 levels in total to deal with.)

Overall Fun 7.5
(The game is fun and challenging even though it is hard. Fighting as Batman with weapons and jump moves is actually pulled off quite well for a NES game. This is a game you can play often and get better at as you do so. Some of the enemies and bosses though can be frustrating and the short length of the game can be a downside on the funfactor as well. As just when its getting good it seems to end. Still the game is mostly fun to venture through.)

Final Score: 7.00

  • @MisterConan90 T2 on NES wasn't made by LJN. It's made by Software Creations, who made Silver Surfer.

  • @Sviolinist LJN didn't make Terminator 1, it was MindScape. LJN however made Terminator 2 for the NES, and it's an okay game.

  • @Sviolinist

Not being faithful to the source material doesn't automatically make it a terrible game.

Especially since in this case we're talking about one of the best action games on the NES.

And to be fair this game actually does capture the dark mood and feel of Batman very well, even if it takes a lot of liberties from the source material.

  • This was easily one of my favorite games as a kid.

  • i have a nes i will look for the game

  • This game makes absolutely no sense, but I guess the game-play is kinda sorta fun....?

  • To video maker.

So Amiga and C64 are average and this one is good?

    No way hahahaha!

The computer version was a lot more based in movie than NES-version. The computer games have more variation in gaming and graphics are 1000 000 times better.

Your title of the video is how movies have turned into games. And if you find more movie from NES-version I say you don't know what you're talking about.

    Even though nice analysis overall.

  • I don't know if you grew up during the NES glory days or not.. but... I find it hard to believe that anyone would call this one of the best NES games. It's really not worthy of that admiration. Sure, it was a great game, but compared to Castlevania I and III... Super Mario Bros. I and III.... Final Fantasy... Dragon Warrior... hell even Bases Loaded and Super Tecmo Bowl had more lasting playability than this game. Seriously, you either were poor and this was your only game or you are a youngling
