Now that I have registered for an account in ARTstor, today I will create an image group. First I will go to www.artstor.org and click "go" to enter the digital library. After that loads, I click on login button on the upper right and enter my email and password. I would like to look at a subset of the Art Survey collection called Art Images for College Teaching. To do this I will enter those words in the search box on the right. It brings up over 1000 results. I will view these and then I'll narrow it down by entering "gothic" "within these search results." I click once on an image that I want to highlight and then continue to page through my results to find more. Once I have selected several images by highlighting them, I will save them to an image group. I do this by going to "organize" "Save selected images to" "new image group". This new window shows me the default folder called "my work folder" I will select it and enter my image group name (gothic glass work). I will check the box on the right to have it "open in a new separate window" and choose to save and open. Now I can see my search results on the left and my image group on the right. As I continue to go through my search results, I can now drag and drop images into my image group. I can also move images around in my image group to change the order. At any time I can save my image group and close it. Another way to save images to an image group is to highlight an image and then under "organize", "save selected images to" I can then "append the images" to my existing group. Now the next time I login to my ARTstor account I can open the image group by going to folders, hitting the plus sign next to "my work folder" and then by either double clicking or hitting the open button, my image group will appear. Great, now I understand how to build image groups in ARTstor.
