I try to be a student of the music (as I only even got turned on to dance culture in '92) to at least expose myself to the earlier styles. Except for the selections here, I don't really hear any great mixing/blending. Having heard so much about this man, I'm disappointed to hear that most all of the changes are not on beat (& he is using mostly computer produced music here having an even tempo). Being toward the end of his life, I imagine he may not have been in perfect form though.

I was fortunate that one of the well known DJs of the time was willing to help me get in the G with him that last Sat. nite (that stretched in to Monday) but I decided to just hang outside and people watch. The sad thing was the realization that this was also the end of NYC club music-after this there was still good NYC music but it all had that house music sound.
