There are some solar cooks (check out on you tube) using the fresnel lens and it works great. It's just incredibly dangerous unless used very carefully and with the right equipment. The technology has not been refined enough to safely introduce it into more primitive societies.

actually have u ever thought of using fresnel lens for solar cooking? it increases the heat by about 5 times, i guess.
