This is footage of the first level of The Firemen, a game scheduled for release in the United States on the Super Nintendo in 1994. Eventually, the game made it to a European release, but a largely finished US version exists and is shown here. Other than a handful of graphical glitches and a need to go over the script to fix typographical errors, it's completed.

The Firemen is a game about firefighters in the "distant future", 2010. Pete, the user controlled character, and his trusty sidekick Danny have to eliminate the fire raging at the offices of a technology firm known as Metrotech. Unfortunately for them, the basement is filled with a highly explosive substance, and further aggravating matters is that the building was designed by an architect with a complete disregard for any level of fire safety. Despite this issue, he repeatedly insists that he is the world's greatest architect, and those pesky firemen simply don't understand how great his design is.

  • This game did get a U.S. release under the name Ignition Factor. Its the exact same game to my knowledge.

  • @XarboyMkII

They're completely different games. Ignition Factor was developed by Jaleco and released in Japan as Fire Fighting. The Firemen was developed by Human Entertainment. The Firemen was released in Japan on 09/09/94 and The Ignition Factor was released in Japan on 11/11/94. Despite their similar concept, they're completely different games.

  • @areyoustilllistening Is this one better than the one Jaleco has done?

  • @MysticArksRevenge

I really couldn't tell you. I haven't devoted enough time to Ignition Factor to pass judgment on it, but I do think The Firemen is quite fun. It's worth playing no matter how good or bad Ignition Factor might be.

  • @areyoustilllistening Ah. I think HUMAN Entertainment did a great job on this one. It is too bad the company went out of business or was absorbed by CAPCOM.

  • Ouch, 2010 XD

  • @areyoustilllistening

Well then I suppose I'll just have to get both then :p

I never knew and axe was such an effective method for putting out fires.
