Eye exercises, Embrace Tree, front view - 04/24/08 (Spring)
T, U of Complete Morning Sequence
(list below)
** EYE EXERCISES **
I rub both of my hands together to warm them and fill them with energy. Then, I cup both hands over my closed eyes and draw the warm energy from my hands into both eyes.
Waving both hands rapidly in front of both closed eyes, I try to detect any flickering patterns of light and dark behind my closed eyelids.
I cover my right eye with my right hand, so I can only see with my left eye.
The uncovered left eye focuses upon the lines and fingers of my outstretched left hand as it pulls further away from my left eye. I try to see the lines on my left hand as clearly as possible, when the hand is very close to my left eye, and as it pulls away.
Then, I pull my left hand completely to the side, so it doesn't block objects far away. I focus my left eye on some distant object, like a tree, or a lamp post. I try to see the details of the faraway object as clearly as possible with my left eye.
Then I look at the details of my left hand again, as it approaches my left eye. I repeat this back and forth movement with my left hand several times.
Focus on something very close, then focus on something distant. Then focus on something close again. That's the main activity.
I change hands and repeat the same sequence. I cover my left eye with my left hand, and I use the right eye to focus on the movements of my right hand as it nears and pulls away from my right eye.
Then I uncover both eyes, and I use both eyes to focus on the lines or fingers of one hand as it recedes from my eyes, and then approaches.
Then I focus on the tip of one finger of one hand, as it recedes from one eye, and nears it.
I take turns focusing one eye, then the other, then both eyes, onto the same point - - close, then far away, then close, then far away again. Repeat several times.
Eyes have muscles which, like other muscles throughout the body, need to be exercised to stay in shape.
**
When I assume the Embrace Tree posture, I continue to look at objects far away, then close, then far, as long as I maintain the posture. Standing still for several minutes gives me an opportunity to pay close attention to the changing details of my surroundings.
