what does she mean if you're black you're more likely to fail an AP class. That is NOT true. I happen to be African American and since 1st grade I've taken G/T - AP classes and in elementary school I was the first student to win the Jane Hull award. a lot of African Americans think they can't do well in advanced classes and thats crazy. My goal when i go to high school is to be valedictorian and a lot of my fellow black students say I can't do it because asians and white are "smarter"!

Black parents should take the responsibility for their kids lacking the education they should have. However, the partial blame is on Central. Their teachers are so busy alienating the black kids when they should be trying to teach them. You become an educator to teach everyone. It really saddened me when I saw the black kid in the white neighborhood. He was so white-washed. He's a product of an educated black family that feels you've reached a high status when you're surrounded by whites.

This is the prime example of how they've brainwashed their black students. It appears that she feels the need to plead her case for all black kids. So is it that the AP classes are only for Whites? If they're saying that the education is so poor amongst the black students, then Central should be accused of segregating students by education. What good is there to throw a child in AP classes when you've failed to teach them the basics of the course? You're setting them up for failure.
That girl is very brave and determined. I've seen black people who try to succeed that are called Uncle Tom or worse by other black people. I believe that this is the biggest imediment to the advancement of many black people. It takes someone with enormous will-power to overcome being stigmatized by your community.
Don't ever let ANYONE keep you down.

It is possible to achieve your dreams. I'm a black male that graduated from a public inner city high school. I was in a gifted program. I went on university and eventually graduated in 4 years from a elite public ivy university with a Bachelors degree.
I echo what the respondent said below, never let anyone keep you down. I was in a similar situation as the girl in the clip, you can turn things around with perseverance.
There is hope.
