This is a Federal Model 2-120 at the Catawba VFD in Catawba NC. This siren replaced a Sterling 2v8 and was installed last week. The siren had new brushes installed before it went back into service. It is on a very tall pole.

  • How many calls a year does Catawba make?

  • @sabethafiredept Im not sure how many calls they have per year.

  • is that the sterling next to it and why is the pole so large

  • no the sterling is in a storage area and I have no idea why they have such a large pole

  • @idk6000 well, the model 2's sound is directed downward by the cowling, so maybe they just wanted to get max output for it.

  • @Tabby266 The sterling 2v8 was on the same pole. I assume that they got the pole with the idea that the higher up the siren was the farther away it can be heard.
