I don't know fully what Bertie went through but I do know that the best songs are about reality and emotions we all go through. Key Largo is one of those songs. To me as a listener this song is not only about a relationship but about that which I miss in this country, the way it used to be. It is a timeless song because of how we feel in love and also a time capsule that takes us back to simpler days when things weren't so damned complicated.
