Cotton Rosser interview by Gail Woerner for the Rodeo Historical Society Oral History Project. Interview recorded on October 20, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Recipient of the Ben Johnson Memorial Award in 2006, Cotton Rosser studied animal science at California Polytechnic and competed on the rodeo team. In 1950, he won the intercollegiate all-around and the saddle bronc championships. His rodeo career was cut short when he suffered a debilitating ranch accident. Rosser partnered with Dick Pascoe to purchase the Flying U Rodeo Company in 1955, the first stock contracting company to offer a comprehensive rodeo package that included promotional consultants, contract acts and noteworthy bucking stock. Always a showman, Rosser has been honored as the "Most Colorful Man In Rodeo" by the PRCA, named Stock Contractor of the Year and inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. This hour-long interview was conducted at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
The hour-long interview is available for viewing at the Donald C. & Elizabeth M. Dickinson Research Center, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
