A nice 'shelf' layout featuring trams, trams and more trams. HO (or possibly OO) scale. During one of my pacing shot attempts I spent too much time watching the tram and not enough time watching where I was going and almost knocked over another person trying the same thing from the other end of the layout!

Filmed at Box Hill exhibition 2004.

  • Great layout. Would love to know the dimensions.

  • @BurningtunaDC

I can only go by memory as it was over 7 yrs ago, the layout was quite compact and probably around 4m x 1m

  • i have 2 like tiles one is a train and 1 a car the train says box hill on it i had them from my late grans house wher are they from dose any1 no ther older than me they was always on my nans wall ?

  • Box Hill is a suburb of Melbourne (Australia)

  • Hi as an Ex Melbournian living in UK does anybody know where I can obtain any working model Melbourne trams circa 1960's

  • Weico make tram kits in 1:87 HO scale. Just google "weico tram" and you'll find them (include the quotes and you'll just get 2 matches, both to their tram pages.

  • Loved the clip and thanks for posting. I always want to know the dimensions of the layout.

  • Since when are trams suppose to be racing cars?

The owner(s) had the trams going to fast at the time. Run them slower, and they would have looked better and more to realistic.

Oh and Poath Junction, most of those trams look like OO scale, of course on HO scale track

  • That Tram uses a Spud truck, they are dificult to control at low speeds!

  • That's what you call a very nice modeltram city!

But that tram @ 1m40s drives really fast... I didn't know a hispeed tram exists. :-)

    Sorry, just kiddin'

  • I am not sure who owns these Trams now But I built them in the mid 1990's for the late Travis Jeffries. the single trucker is a kit from TramAlan and the two VR cars are scratch built to a scale Travis specified. I am pleased they have been passed on and are in working order.

  • At 0:24 in the video, in the background to the left is a Bachman brill car. A simple repaint in tuscan and cream and remove the end doors and you have a very good look alike for the Adelaide E1 type.
