Wow, his accent has not changed at all and he's been living in the UK forever! If I can see Webber win the Australian GP this year (or even podium) I can die happy :)
@gnarkillkicksass Have i ever been to a kart club? I was IN the club of some now big names (an F1 driver and a bathurst winner). i was better than BOTH of them. So yes i know exactly what you mean- the winners were the kids with new tyres every single event (half the average weekly salary per set - that immediately is out of reach for the average income family). You are just proving my point- i dont see why you are defending this situation - seems you are happy to have been gazumped by rich kids?
@BiggerThinking1 Of course it bloody does, have you ever been to a kart club? Even the kids winning aren't the best, they're in the top categories because they have the money for a couple chassis, full rebuilds between meets and money for track rental.
If you want to make a small fortune in racing you have to start with a large one. I don't like it anymore then you do but racing and getting seats (or in my case losing it) is all about money, money, money and money. Nothing new.
@gnarkillkicksass Ridiculous line of reasoning - thats like saying George Bush wasnt a war criminal just because Hitler was even worse! Whats your point? That others re even more nepotitc than Webber? Yeah so what? - that doesnt make Webber a worthy talent at all - doesnt in any way address my point that there were dozens of guys in Australian kart racing with more talent and commitment.than Lowndes and Webber. In fact your comment is ADMITTING that money not talent achieves career promotion.
@BiggerThinking1 Yet Petrovs Dad brings 30 million euro to the table, Venezuala government (good old Hugo) gives Maldonado 20 million euro to play with and Webber is the bad guy?
I understand that it is tough, I did F BMW Asia series then ran out of dosh and got replaced but that is the nature of the beast. People that bitch about it have only scratched the surface. I left karting knowing very well what the risks were and the stresses my family had to endure. It's just racing.
