My Japanese Akita playing in our back garden. She is about 5 months old here I think

cute little akita. I have one that looks almost identical to yours. But i have to say that your akita is not a Japanese Akita. The reason is because your dog, like mine, has a "mask" on the facial area. Thats how to tell between Japanese and American akitas.

im sure this video was posted to show how wonderful suni is not to cause a debate on the breed. QSilva japanese or american akita sunis lovely!! i also hava a japanese akita called misty they are a wonderful breed

the Traditional Japanese akita Inu, is not what the AKC recognizes.. Which is sad, doesnt give credit to the origin of the breed for what they truly are. The Traditional Akitas only come in 3 colors Red and white, White, and Brindle. I had a traditional red and white female for 13.5 years. She was the best dog i ever owned, i wont get another breed of dog. Sticking with Traditional.

well there is colour like that in the Japanese ones but it is considered a fault, American Akitas have alot more tossa in them which is why the American Akita has a much bigger and more Mastiff like look.
