The United States still faces a major obstacle in international trade which most people simply know nothing about.  This obstacle is the Value Added Tax (VAT) and it costs this economy hundreds of millions of dollars in extra fees every year.  Making matters worse is the fact that over nearly 150 nations around the world use a VAT system to protect their economy while the United States remains idle.

  • Why are you trying to seem like a news anchor? You're clearly not!

  • @SCLARK2112 the VAT alone would be disastrous I agree, HOWEVER when properly coupled with a decrease in income taxes, it would benefit us all. It is difficult to hide from a VAT tax in the same way we could hide from income tax as we all consume. For TAX PAYING Americans, less income tax means more spending money, means no real hardship when prices go up. In that case it would be a swap in what we are taxed on. As a new tax this would be a problem, but as a different tax it could benefit us all.

  • Government spending is out of control! There's no way we can afford Obamacare so lets tax some more! We're becoming a European Socialist country. With the Value Added Tax.....get use to 12% - 15% unemployment. This is a lesson to us all for electing the most liberal senator for president. Social justice is what Obama wants and that's exactly what we're getting.

  • Creepy video, but on point. Agree or disagree with the VAT, this video is educational.

  • Nancy Pelosi should be in prison for being a traitor.

  • Sounds like a viable solution to drive us further towards socialism and eventual economic failure. Hey, I got an idea. How about cutting back on the salaries of Congress? Whoa...Wait, we can't propose that.

  • To keep the debt from wrecking the economy the US would need to raise taxes an average of $11k in 2019 for all families, an increase of about 55%. "The revenues needed are far too big to raise from high earners" says Alan Auerbach, an economist at the University of California. "The government will have to go where the money is, to the middle class." The most likely levy: a European-style value-added tax (VAT) that would substantially raise the price of everything from autos to restaurant meals.

  • The VAT is a terrible idea that will finish off our economy for good. I've already cut way back on spending and a VAT will guarantee I cut back even further. The government should do what all broke people must do, declare bankruptcy and start over.

  • absolutely. the notion that the US government needs even MORE money to exist is 100% insane. they have about 40% more money than they did 8 years ago. on top of that, they openly admit to "losing" money in every department. on september 10th 2001, the pentagon (rumsfeld) admitted that they had no idea where 2.3 trillion dollars went. WTF?!? how about the government get their books straight, THEN they can bring up more outrageous taxes. till then, the prick in this video can go fuck himself.

  • You're right.

There going to put the screws to the little people even more by piling on more taxes. And wait until Obango's cap and trade energy taxes kick in.

That little maggot in the video will be one of the first to the wall when the revolution comes.
