We could have stopped 9/11 if we had heeded warnings. As head of worst case scenerios - this was dick's job. He ignored consistant warnngs in favor of invading a country unrelated to al Quada and UBL.

Curious - do any of you know what war for profit is? How dick invented it and how much it cost the Amercan taxpayer?

dick Cheney was warned in 1/01 that al Quada was coming. He said UBL was powerless and the true threat was SH.Read Richard Clark. PW told CLark in 1/01 that UBL was no issue. Warned, dick ignored facts in favor of invading the wrong country. We should have never been hit to begin with. Ignorant neo-cons seem to fall for this: We are safer because we ignored warnings, allowed our country to be attacked, let UBL go in Tora Bora and occupied the wrong country.
Amazes me anyone falls for that lie.

Unfortunately, I DON'T thank Bush's administration for things they didn't actually do.

Bush made us LESS secure, by giving out a bunch of money that we didn't have...For no better purpose than "shopping."

There are rational methods by which we can achieve defense and security. "Bi-partisanship," since it means nothing more than "unrestrained government," is NOT one of these methods.

You can't be both "safe and poor." That's simply sticking your head in the sand and hoping for the best.

If you can't acknowledge the good things Bush did then you're just a complete moron. You're right about bi-partisanship: it means, being more liberal and less conservative. You cannot be an adult and not recognize the significance of 9/11. You probably blame that on Bush, too. The only things he failed on were domestic issues, like No Brain Put to Good Use. You seem to be the beneficiary of that program. And your last line is proof of the fact that we're still the wealthiest nation in the world.

*sigh*...You're going to stick to this straw man line of attack, aren't you? You realize THIS is the reason the Republicans lost Libertarian backing in the first place, right? It's why the Demonbrats won.

Why don't you want to actually have a discussion with the person in front of you? Why do you have to make up someone else's argument for them? Do you think this actually works?

Look, you're not making any sense. You are anti-war, which is a position I can respect, but you are also claiming we're broke. Freeing 52 million people in Iraq is good. We "dug a debt" but we were safer under Bush's foreign policy. You want a president that will legalize drugs, stay out of the international picture. Bottom line, we are not broke, but congress is spending trillions like it's lunch money, so libertarian is great in theory, but cannot win a general election.

I'm not anti-war actually...I'm completely behind defending U.S. interests, AND for defending the human rights of those who live in oppressive countries...If we can afford it.

I think it's important that we prioritize where we apply our limited resources. The money we spent freeing Iraq from an admittedly, horrible dictator, might have been the money that would have paid for a means of protecting us from North Korea, for example.

A smaller government IS coming. The only question is how.

The government is only growing under Obama, and it might be hard to recover from, with his environmental policies and this health care plan. The effects of these two things alone could totally undermine the policies of a truly conservative president. The country needs smaller government, in a bad way. According to a recent poll conservatives outnumber liberals in this country 2:1. The GOP needs to get it's shit together and take control of congress. I apologize for being rude and offensive.

I consider myself a Libertarian. The mainstream Conservatives, I think, would do well to join forces with Libertarians. At least temporarily, to fight the Fiscal nightmare coming from the left.

The current split between Neocons and Libertarians is only giving the socialist minority more power.

After we get rid of the Statists, we can go back to debating relatively minor issues, like legalizing drugs.
