Join us April 20, 2009 in Manistee, Michigan to celebrate new jobs through clean energy. Opening celebration of the Mariah Power-MasTech manufacturing facility.
Shocked after two hours of searching to find MICHIGAN had wind turbine manufactuers... I want to make my money circle locally as much as possible before it leaves. Right now a lot of my energy dollars goes to the Middle East or to the Koch brothers. This is great. Michigan gets 86% the solar energy Florida gets per year and wind resources to easily meet 65% of Michigan current needs. btw I cook w/solar -betcha didn't know it was possible here!
Great political ad for the administration, but Carter tried this and it failed. It failed in the 80's as well. Look at U.S. Windpower (formerly) in Livermore, CA even with one of the windiest places on the planet, they went bankrupt and most of their turbines sat (and still sit) broken down. This movement needs to come from companies and individuals purchasing and implementing POINT OF USE generation, not Big Government messing with commerce.
In the U.S. wind power is the fastest growing energy source. It has the potential to produce 37 million gigawatt-hours of electricity from wind power each year. Also, it has the potential to net 4.5 million jobs in the renewable energy and energy-efficiency sector by 2030. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers has many whitepapers and articles on the wind energy sector. It manufactures custom-built energy transformers for wind energy farms.
@silverhawks Yeah, that is about the size of it, flying, space travel and LIFE are dangerous. I would rather run the risk than get regulated into sitting in mommy's lap all the time.
our whole energy production/delivery system is subsidized but the private companies run with all the profits. its a scheme. wind turbine production creates jobs and in the same stroke puts the power back in the peoples hands. This is a shift in technology that has to happen, even if it needs a nudge from the gov. If we ever want to be less reliant on government institutions being able to make our own electricity is key. no company to shut you down for no payment. that my friend is freedom.
Yes...look at how NASA is completely underfunded and subsidized to the point of uselessness. Look at how a private company developed a more efficient and lower cost spacecraft than NASA has ever managed to (SpaceShip One). Government does not enable human progress, it retards it. But by all means, stay stuck in thinking of left and right...I doubt that government politicians think of themselves in that fashion; it should be apparent to a blind man that they are united in their own interests.
You can call me right-wing if it makes you feel better. The important political scale doesn't run between right and left, it runs between government power and individual liberty.
Yes, I've heard of NASA. (Thank you for asking.) IMO we'd be better off keeping our money.

I think the list of unsubsidized industries is shorter than the subsidized one.
