  • LAGGG!

  • 2 fps?

  • @edgozer9999 I guess the OP made a screencast of the whole desktop with too small frame rate for this purpose. In real life on a somewhat current computer this thing spins without any delay or gaps.

  • Cheers for the feedback guys, I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate, maybe when I buy I new desktop I look into this more as my laptop only have a 75gb HD.

  • @Gruffington31 Might also want to do this in WIndows before you dedicate your life to the *nix for the rest of your life. Remember, with technology, a worl of possibilities open for you. Don't let FUD get in the way of experimenting with things 'til they work. ;)

  • @Gruffington31 Eh, buddy, you can simply run Windows as a virtual machine and dedicate one of your workspaces to the Windows working environment.

Hell, same for Mac, run Mac in a VM, run the VM maximized in it's own space.

Though, I suggest before you do that you check if your BIOS is better optimised for virtualization before you try this, otherwise your experience might me less-than-pleasant.

  • @groopcd Thanks for the reply mate, I done some checking around and I dont want all the problems of looking for ways to get my fav prog to work.... cant work without photoshop and creative suite. I have decided to install window 7 ultimate. Maybe in the future if there is a more complete version on Linux, maybe a photographers version? where you just install it and thats it...... it will work with everything..... but until then staying with windows.

  • @Gruffington31 Hey, well opera is supported in linux, so just go to opera.com and get a .deb (for ubuntu and such). for your photography needs just see the article link://isDOTgdSLASHduRPR , there a plenty of open source and closed ones for linux (lightroom is available for linux), bible5 also. digikam is a very powerful photography proggie also. just look around. but as i always say, linux is for who can do it, not for who want to do it.

  • I need Opera to work also as I have just started using it and I love it.

  • You seem to know your stuff mate, so I am really interested in changing to Linux but what would be the best one to use? I am a pro photographer and have heard that its not possible to use photoshop, is this true? Also would need lightroom to work also.I am running it on a dell 1520 laptop with 4gb Ram and a Nvidia 8400mgs 256mb.......would it be fast enough? Or would it be better to go from vista to windows 7 as I have a disk here for windows 7 pro. Any advice would be much appreciated
