Blue Bonnets o'er the Border was the regimental march of The King's Own Scottish Borderers.
The 7th (Airborne) Bn King's Own Scottish Borderers landed at Arnhem via gliders to secure the landing zones for the paratroops, the Regiment's Pipers played Blue Bonnets as a rallying call.
The last time the KOSB were piped into the assault was during the Korean War when the 1st Bn's Pipe Major played the Regimental Charge (Standard on the Braes o Mar) followed by Blue Bonnets.
@scada4321 Yes, indeed. Lord Lovatt had his piper. My dad was with the Kings own Scottish Borderers and they also had a piper. As far as I know they all survived. WW!, a great many pipers lost their lives.
I can't watch this without tearing up, love the bagpipes and it reminds me of my Granny the proud member of Clan Matheson whose parents came over from the Isle of Lewis. A beautiful presentation.
